About the author
For those of you who have found this site but are not related to the Longacre-Sykes family, I am Anne McCart Drolet, and my relationship to Adeline is she was my granddad Andrew Longacre's aunt. Growing up, my parents - Bruce and Marian (Longacre) McCart - often would take us from our Midwest home to the Longacre family vacation home "Mostly Mowins" in Peru, Vermont. This house had been Adeline's vacation home, and in the 50's she gave it to her nephew Andrew. My mother and then my sister also wore Adeline's wedding dress when they were married.
Beyond these connections to Adeline, I am a historical researcher and share the role of family historian with my uncle Andrew Longacre, Jr. My grandmother Marian C. (Sykes) Longacre was a meticulous genealogist, and it is from her and my paternal grandmother Mattie (Toft) McCart that I got my love of family stories.
