P11_#1 rev.jpg

#1 - Though appearing to be a photograph of Teddy Roosevelt, things like the patch on the shoulder and the trumpet under his arm indicate that it this more likely is a member of the U.S. National Cavalry Unit.

These possibly are of the 14th Cavalry without any connection to the national parks.

Possibly U.S. Cavalry exercises in Yosemite National Park

P51_#1 rev.jpg

These photographs might be U.S. Cavalry Unit exercises  in the Hetch Hetchy Valley, part of Yosemite National Park. While Hetch Hetchy today has a lake in this valley, the dam that created the lake wasn't wasn't begun to be built until 1914.

From 1890s until 1916, U.S. Cavalry units provided the protection of Yellowstone and Yosemite National Parks.

The setting suggests these were taken when Adeline and Lucian were on their trip west

#7 - Lucian is probably the man on the right forefront with the white hat.
